Bolt Pull Out Force Calculator

Bolt Pull Out Force Calculator:

Enter the values of bolt’s diameter, D(m), engaged length of the bolt L(m) and material’s shear strength, MF(Pa) to determine the value of bolt pull out force, Fpo(N).

Enter Diameter : m
Enter Length of the Bolt : m
Enter Materials Shear Strength : Pa

Result – Bolt Pull Out Force : N

Bolt Pull Out Force Calculator:

The bolt pull out force is a measure of the force required to pull a bolt out of its host material, essentially evaluating the bolt’s anchoring strength in that material.

Bolt Pull Out Force, Fpo(N) in Newtons is determined by multiplying the bolt’s diameter, D(m) in metres by Pi, the engaged length of the bolt L(m) in metres and the material’s shear strength, MF(Pa) in Pascals.

Bolt Pull Out Force, Fpo(N) = D(m) * pi * L(m) * MF(Pa)

Fpo(N) = bolt pull out force in Newtons, N.

D(m) = diameter in metres, m.

L(m) = length of the bolt in metres, m.

MF(Pa) = materials shear strength in Pascals, Pa.

Bolt Pull Out Force Calculation:

1.Calculate the pull out force for a bolt with a diameter of 0.01m, engaged in a material for 0.05m, with the material’s shear strength being 400 MPa.

Given: D(m) = 0.01m, L(m) = 0.05, MF(Pa) = 400MPA.

Bolt Pull Out Force, Fpo(N) = D(m) * pi * L(m) * MF(Pa)

Fpo(N) = 0.01 * 3.14 * 0.05 * 400 * 106

Fpo(N) = 628000.00N.

2.Suppose you need to determine the shear strength of the material from which a bolt was pulled out. The pull out force was measured as 10,000N. The bolt has a diameter of 0.01 metres and was engaged in the material for a length of 0.05 metres.

Given: D(m) = 0.01m, L(m) = 0.05, Fpo(N) = 10,000N.

Bolt Pull Out Force, Fpo(N) = D(m) * pi * L(m) * MF(Pa)

MF(Pa) =  Fpo(N) / D(m) * pi * L(m)

MF(Pa) = 10,000 / 0.01 * 3.14 * 0.05

MF(Pa) = 6,369,426.752Pa.
