Blowing Force Calculator:
Enter the values of air density, Da(kg/m3) , area, A(m2) and velocity, V(m/s) to determine the value of Blowing Force, BF(N).
Blowing Force Formula:
The blowing force refers to the force exerted by a moving fluid or gas on a surface perpendicular to its flow direction.
Force, BF(N) in Newtons is calculated by multiplying the air density, Da(kg/m3) in kilogram per cubic metres, the cross-sectional area, A(m2) in metre square and the square of the velocity, V(m/s) in metres per second.
Blowing Force, BF(N) = Da(kg/m3) * A(m2) * V2(m/s)
BF(N) = blowing force in Newtons, N.
Da(kg/m3) = air density in kilogram per cubic metres, kg/m3.
A(m2) = cross-sectional area in metre square, m2.
V(m/s) = velocity in metres per second, m/s.
Blowing Force Calculation:
1.Calculate the blowing force of wind against a building window:
Given: Da(kg/m3)= 1.225 kg/m3, A(m2)= 2m2, V(m/s) = 15 m/s.
Blowing Force, BF(N) = Da(kg/m3) * A(m2) * V2(m/s)
BF(N) = 1.225 * 2 * 152
BF(N) = 551.25N.
2.To find the cross-sectional area, A(m2):
Given: Da(kg/m3)= 1.2kg/m3, BF(N) = 600N, V(m/s) = 20 m/s.
Blowing Force, BF(N) = Da(kg/m3) * A(m2) * V2(m/s)
A(m2) = BF(N) / Da(kg/m3) * V2(m/s)
A(m2) = 600 / 1.2 * 202
A(m2) = 1.25m2.
