Arrow Force Calculator:
Enter the values of mass, m(kg), velocity, V(m/s), and distance, d(m), to determine the value of arrow Force, AF(N).
Arrow Force Formula:
The Arrow Force calculator measures the exerted force by an arrow as it strikes a target, derived from the kinetic energy imparted by its mass and velocity upon impact, and spread over a certain distance.
Arrow Force, AF(N) in Newtons, is calculated by dividing half of the product of the mass of the arrow, m(kg) in kilograms and the square of its velocity, V(m/s) in metres per seconds by the distance, d(m) in metres over which the force is exerted.
Arrow Force, AF(N) = 1 / 2 * m(kg) * V2(m/s) / d(m)
AF(N) =arrow force in Newtons, N.
m(kg) = mass in kilograms, kg.
V(m/s) = velocity in metres per seconds, m/s.
d(m) = distance in metres, m.
Arrow Force Calculation:
1.Calculate the force exerted by an arrow of mass 0.05 kg traveling at a velocity of 60 m/s when it penetrates a target to a depth of 0.1 metres.
Given: m(kg) = 0.05kg, V(m/s) = 60m/s, d(m) = 0.1m.
Arrow Force, AF(N) = 1 / 2 * m(kg) * V2(m/s) / d(m)
AF(N) = 1 / 2 * 0.05 * 602 / 0.1
AF(N) = 0.5 * 0.05 * 3600 / 0.1
AF(N) = 900N.
2.Suppose you want to find out how deep an arrow penetrates into a target when the arrow has a mass of 0.04 kg and is traveling at a velocity of 50 m/s, exerting a force of 500 N upon impact.
Given: m(kg) = 0.04kg, V(m/s) = 50m/s, AF(N) = 500N.
Arrow Force, AF(N) = 1 / 2 * m(kg) * V2(m/s) / d(m)
d(m) = 1 / 2 * m(kg) * V2(m/s) / AF(N)
d(m) = 1 / 2 * 0.04 * 502 / 500
d(m) = 0.5 * 0.04 * 2500 / 500
d(m) = 0.2m.
