Stretch Film Weight Formula:

A stretch film, commonly used in packaging, is a thin plastic film characterized by its elasticity, enabling it to stretch around objects for secure and stable wrapping. This film is typically made from polyethylene, known for its flexibility, durability, and high tensile strength, making it ideal for protecting goods during transit and storage.

The weight of a stretch film depends on its length, width, and thickness, measured in gauge units, as well as the material’s density. Stretch films come in various gauges, with higher gauges providing greater durability and puncture resistance.

When calculating the weight, it’s essential to account for these factors to ensure the material’s suitability for the intended application. The weight formula incorporates length and width, and the gauge determines the film’s thickness, contributing to the total weight.

Stretch Film Weight, W(g) in grams is calculated by the product of length, L(cm) in centimetres, width, W(cm) in centimetres and gauge thickness of the film, G, then divide it by 250000.

Stretch Film Weight, W(g) = L(cm) * W(cm) * (G / 250000)

W(g) = stretch film weight in grams, g.

L(cm) = length in centimetres, cm.

W(cm) = width in centimetres, cm.

G = gauge thickness of the film.

Stretch Film Weight Calculation of Formula:

1.A stretch film roll has a length 5000 cm, width 50 cm, and gauge 60. Determine the weight.

Given: L(cm) = 5000cm, W(cm) = 50cm, G = 60.

Stretch Film Weight, W(g) = L(cm) * W(cm) * (G / 250000)

W(g) = 5000 * 50 * (60 / 250000)

W(g) = 5000 * 50 * 0.00024

W(g) = 60g.

2.A stretch film has a width of 75 cm, gauge 50, and weighs 100 grams. Find the length of the film.

Given: W(g) = 100g, W(cm) = 75cm, G = 50.

Stretch Film Weight, W(g) = L(cm) * W(cm) * (G / 250000)

L(cm) = W(g) / W(cm) * (G / 250000)

L(cm) = 100 / 75 * (50 / 250000)

L(cm) = 100 / 75 * 0.0002

L(cm) = 6666.67cm.
